¡Bienvenidos todos to Spanish III! I am so happy that you have decided to continue your study of the Spanish language. This course is designed to improve your oral and written comprehension. Previously studied grammatical concepts will be reviewed and more advanced structures will be introduced. This course will be conducted almost entirely in Spanish. Success in this course depends on your willingness to participate, to complete assignments and to use Spanish.
Materials:
- Comprehension notebook/spiral notebook for taking notes and completing in class activities or homework.
- Pencil or pen.
- iPad. We will be using the iPad for various activities.
Classroom Policies and Expectations:
- iPads and cell phones will remain out of sight unless being used for academic purposes as directed by the teacher.
- Food and drink are allowed. Please put all trash in garbage/recycle bin.
- Please talk to me if you are struggling with the material. I like my classroom to be a stress free zone! I am here to help you succeed!

Assessment:
Grades are figured on a weighted scale.
40% - Homework: You will have daily homework assignments worth between 5 and 10 points.
30% - Pariticaption: You will have many opportunities to participate in class activities. This category also includes being prepared with your journal, pen or pencil and iPad out of sight.
20% - Quizzes and projects: Quizzes will be given frequently. This includes both oral and written. During the year you will work toward the completion of projects. These projects may be completed individually or in a group.
10% - Journal: You will use your journal for warm up activities, notes, in class practice, and homework exercises.
Percent – Letter Scale:
Grades will be figured on a point basis based on the following scale:
A 100 B+ 89-87 C+ 79-77 D+ 69-67
A 99-93 B 86-83 C 76-73 D 66-60
A- 92-90 B- 82-80 C- 72-70 F 59 or below
The World Language department expects students will abide by Shoreline District policy #3202 regarding Ethics and Honesty and policy #3300 regarding Student Conduct and Corrective Actions for Misconduct.
Academic dishonesty includes forgery, plagiarism and cheating and we remind students that the use of translators (human or electronic) constitutes plagiarism.
Shorewood High School Norms:
The Shorewood High School dress code/ electronics / tardy policy included in the Shorewood Student Handbook will be followed in this class.
Deadlines and make up work
Late work will NOT be accepted. The only exception is for absences excused through the attendance office.It is the student’s responsibility to find out what was missed when absent. Homework will be posted on the calendar in Canvas.
Tests and quizzes may be made up by students with excused absences and must be completed in a timely manner (usually within three days of the student’s return.)

Assessments: Students will be assessed on the 4 aspects of language learning: listening, speaking, reading and writing. These aspects of language learning will be assessed with both formative and summative assessments. These assessments may include, but are not limited to: • lesson quizzes on vocabulary and grammar • a conversational oral exam with 3 other classmates at semester • a written essay Mi Manifiesto about a topic personally important to you • a comprehensive end-of-the-year summative illustrated Children’s Book • a verb project
